Birmingham Churches and Their Cornerstones 46
The former home of St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church sits abandoned at 1529 6th Street North in Birmingham, Alabama. It was more recently the home of Perfecting the Saints Ministries. Its two large towers give it a stately presence from its position above the street.

The cornerstone states that it was purchased in 1935. City directories suggest that it was not the building, but the land that purchased on that date and that building was erected by the congregation of St. Mark. The church appears to have been previously located in North Titusville at 201 Iota Avenue.
Much of the neighborhood of the church pictured above was destroyed by the construction of Interstate 65.
