Birmingham Churches and Their Cornerstones 89
Noble Chapel C.M.E. Church is located in Birmingham’s Riley community at 3700 Maple Ave SW. The current pastor is Steven Hoyt. It is just down the street from Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

The cornerstone bears the dual date “1946 — 1975.” I’m not sure of the significance of those two dates. Probably the first is the congregation’s founding and the other is the completion of the building. The only property transaction for the site recorded in the county’s online system was in 1962.

Each site in this project is mapped below. Clicking on an icon will bring up a box with a link to the post on the site. Please use it to browse the collection.
The color and shape of the location markers indicate the character of the cornerstones at each site. Stones with only the church name and date are light blue. Ones with multiple names like this one are red. If there is more than one stone at the site a shape is used. Click here for full information on the icons.
