Birmingham Churches and Their Cornerstones 68
This handsome decorated-gothic-revival building was erected in 1951 for Pike Avenue Baptist Church which was organized in 1897. It is now owned and used by New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. The building has a Jefferson County Historical Commission awarded in 1979 (per the JCHC website) that states that it is a historic structure dating from 1909, but clearly 1951 is the correct date for the building. The quality of the gothic-revival details on this building exceed that of any other post-World War II building in Birmingham that I can recall. While not a huge building, it was not an inexpensive building.

The prominent colonial-revival sign is a bit incongrous with the gothic building, but very typical of the era.

It is located at 2200 Pike Road in the Ensley Highlands neighborhood of Birmingham.
