Shades Valley Lutheran Church is a classic modern suburban church of the 1950s or 1960s. This building type is well studied in Gretchen Townsend Buggeln, The Suburban Church: Modernism and Community in Postwar America. It was founded in 1951 and its cornerstone is dated 1963. It is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and located at 720 Shades Creek Parkway.
