According to its cornerstone, the First Baptist Church of Powderly was organized in 1863. That was eight years before Birmingham was established. Its current sanctuary building dates from 1968, but the historical marker on the building suggests that the church has been on this site since 1902.
The church is located at 2801 Dawson Ave SW in Birmingham, Alabama.
